Hello, 2018!

Happy New Year, friends! Today I wanted to take a look back at 2017 and reflect on some highlights of the year. It was full of great memories, but 2018 is going to be full of adventures and celebrations and I just can’t wait!

We started off the year big by purchasing our first home! They weren’t kidding when they said “be prepared for unexpected home repairs” because a month after closing on the house, we had to replace the roof! Ugh! At least we don’t have to worry about leaks any time soon. It has been so much fun painting, decorating, and just making this house into a home!

My best friend Lauren came to visit all the way from Illinois and she asked me to be her maid of honor (which of course I said yes!) We got to celebrate my birthday together and I also got to go with her to try on wedding dresses for her upcoming wedding!

Jake and I ventured up to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for a little weekend getaway to the mountains. We had a relaxing time exploring the town, shopping, and eating our weight in delicious food! I would love to rent a cabin up there and visit while all of their Christmas decorations are up, I heard it’s really pretty.

In September we were able to take another little weekend trip to one of my favorite places, Navarre Beach in Florida. I love this beach because it is very small and quiet so we don’t have to worry about crowds. It’s also not a far drive from Destin so one night we were able to go shopping and grab dinner over there. If you are planning a trip to Navarre Beach, then I highly recommend staying at the SpringHill Suites.

Anyone who knows me, knows that fall is my favorite season (next to Christmas) and it was so fun to decorate our new home with my favorite fall decor!

One of the last and best memories of the year was our first snow in our home. Although we were not prepared for the winter storm or to lose power for 24 hours, it was fun being bundled up on the couch and having to cook what we could in the dark. I was forced to unplug from social media for a little while (in an effort to save my phone battery) so it was a nice break!

I would love to know what some of your favorite memories from 2017 are, so let me know in the comments! I can’t believe 2018 is already here, I can’t wait to see what all we accomplish in the next 365 days.

Happy New Year!

xoxo, Debra
